Ida J. Snyder, 81, of Box 232, Mount Union, R.D. 2, died on Friday, October 2, 1998, at her home following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 6, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Rich Morris officiating. Interment was in the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.D.
Born October 6, 1916, in Shirley Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Gray) Burdge.
She was married to Howard L. "Pete" Snyder, June 30, 1934 in Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death March 31, 1990.
Surviving are four children: Mrs. Donald (Kay) Ripple, Annville; Patricia Snyder, Mount Union, R.D. 2; Donald O.J. Snyder, Charlotte Hall, Md.; Ronald C. Snyder, Carlisle; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Eunice Miller, Mount Union; Roy Burdge, Cassville; and Mary Morgan, Mount Union.
Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by a son, Howard L. Snyder; two brothers: Leon and Clair Burdge, two infant sisters, Zella and Maxine Burdge and sisters Lorma Bollinger, Inez McGarvey and Ruth Burdge.
She was a member of the Allenport United Methodist Church where she was very active as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and as president of the women's society.
Mrs. Snyder was a lifetime member of the Mount Union Chapter 280, Order of the Eastern Star, from which she had received recognition as a 50 year member.
She retired in 1973 from Genesco Corp. (formerly L. Greif Bros. Mfg.) in Mount Union will over 40 years' service.
