Mr. Blanks was a native of New Orleans, but moved to Columbia at the age of nine. He was a cousin of A. D. Bridger, local banker. The Blanks family moved to Monroe around the turn of the century.
He was the son of the late Jack Blanks, boat captain on the Ouachita and Mississippi Rivers. He was for years a brocker [sic broker], particularly in the cotton market.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 4 p.m.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Blanks of Monroe; two sons, Edel F. Blanks of New Orleans and R. W. Blanks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
