ROBERT WHITEFIELD BLANKS, 86, of Albuquerque, N.M., a former Colorado Springs resident, died Wednesday at an Albuquerque nursing home. He retired after 35 years with Colorado Interstate Gas Co. in Colorado Springs.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal S.E., in Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place.

Mr. Blanks was born March 7, 1904, in Columbia, La. He moved to Walnut Creek, Calif., from Colorado Springs and then to New Mexico in February.

Mr. Blanks' wife, Muriel, survives. He also is survived by his daughter, Beverley Lincoln of Albuquerque; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
