Jane Hawkins Buzhardt PROSPERITY - Jane Hawkins Buzhardt, 80, died Thursday, October 6, 2016, in Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born February 22, 1936, in Prosperity, she was the daughter of the late Dwight Berley Hawkins and Geneva Haltiwanger Hawkins. Mrs. Buzhardt was the widow of major league baseball player John W. Buzhardt. Mrs. Buzhardt had retired from State Law Enforcement Dept. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she served the Lord in several capacities. She was a charter member of the Mid-Carolina Country Club. Surviving are her sons, Dr. Rick Buzhardt and wife, Melissa, of Newberry, Allan Buzhardt and wife, Jo, of Rock Hill; a daughter, Donna Buzhardt of Prosperity; brothers, Stanley Hawkins and wife, Zalia, of Pomaria, Tony Hawkins and wife, Debbie, of Lexington; sister-in-law, Leonia Hawkins; grandchildren, Bramlett Drew, Jake Buzhardt, Rachel Buzhardt and Leland Buzhardt; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma Jane, Millie Claire; many nieces and nephews, and cherished friends including Evelyn Ricard, Carolyn Shealy, Greg and Brenda Mattox. She was predeceased by a brother, Hazel Hawkins. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer and the Rev. Arden Hallman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
