Minnie Emma Elizabeth Boyd was the eldest child of Eliza Jane Blackburn and Charles Andy Dody. She was born July 21, 1888 near Burns, Kansas, and died at the Clinton General Hospital at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 6 days. She had been in ill health for some time, her condition becoming serious the last week. She came with her parents to St. Clair County, Mo. at the age of 7 and one year later moved to Henry County where she spent the remainder of her life near Brownington and Clinton. On Jan. 29, 1911 she was united in marriage to Johnny Lee Boyd. They had seven children: Johnny Lee Boyd, Jr., Mrs. Maye Fowler, Mrs. Opal Howard, Charley Franklin Boyd, Roy Daniel Boyd, Gene Milton Boyd, and Owen Ellis Boyd; grandchildren; Forrest Lee, Charles Robert, and Joey Howard, Loretta Maye and Carl Dwight Fowler and Roy Bradley Boyd; her father, Charles A. Dody. Her mother passed away on June 3, 1948. One sister, Mrs. Jessie Edwards, three brothers, Chris D. Dody, Wm. E. Dody, and Earl Dody, and a host of relatives and friends mourn her going. She loved to do for others and her life's ambition to being kind won her many friends. As a young girl she put her trust in God and united with the Church of Christ and had since lived a true Christian life. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church of Clinton on Tuesday.
