Boyd R. Baker, 89, passed away September 24, 2016 at his home.

    Boyd was born April 12, 1927 on a farm in Washington Township in Harrison County, Missouri the son of Elmer Theodore and Clella Mildred (Cover) Baker.

    On February 6, 1950 he married Mavadene Stanton. Boyd was a farmer, did carpenter work, and was a former school bus driver for the Martinsville School.

    Boyd was an Army veteran and had served in World War II and Korea. He was a member and Quartermaster of VFW Post #2176. He was also a member of American Legion Post #216. He had served over 800 families helping with final Military Rites for their loved ones. Boyd also held membership in the Wesley Chapel Church and Cemetery boards, Martinsville School Board, New Hampton Fire Board, Dallas Township Board, MFA Delegate, Harrison County Health Department Board, and was a former North District Commissioner for Harrison County. Boyd attended Muddy Valley School and graduated from Martinsville High School in 1945.

    Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Butler, and brother, Theodore Junior Baker.

    Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mavadene, of the home; 2 sons, Melvin (Cassandra) Baker, Martinsville, MO and Terry (Becky Creasey) Baker, Bethany, MO; 2 daughters, Sandra (Ken) Caley, New Hampton, MO and Barbara Baker, New Hampton, MO; grandchildren, Klaire (Kevin) Williams, Ian (Megan) Caley, Trevor, Hannah, and Kevin Baker, Emily and Wyatt Creasey; great-grandchildren, Lucien and Larson Hutchison and Charlotte and Caroline Caley; 1 brother, Eldon (Connie) Baker, Sunrise Beach, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
