Life's Work/Service/Interests:Lola attended classes at Brigham Young University and Utah Technical College in Provo. She was a hard worker and worked various jobs to help support herself in school, including: babysitting, cleaning houses and harvesting crops in the fields and orchards. She also worked as a waitress at the Stadium Lunch restaurant, as a model for Faye Rose, (a local hairdresser), and as an assistant at the Alpine Animal Hospital in Provo. Lola met her future husband, David M. Patten in 1953; they were married July 20, 1956, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. Both Lola and David came from large, loving families. There are many brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins who knew and loved Lola. David and Lola were blessed with three children: Randy David (Arlana) Patten, Sheri (David) Palmer, and Daniel John (Karla) Patten. They have fifteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Lola cherished her upbringing and testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was involved continuously in church callings throughout her life. Some of her callings included teaching, leadership and secretarial positions. She mostly enjoyed teaching, loving the children, and was unwavering in her commitment to the Gospel. Lola Marie Mecham Patten passed away September 17, 2016, in Orem, Utah.
Survived By: Her husband of 60 years, David; her children and their families; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Mecham and Donald Mecham. In addition, Lola had a large group of treasured friends, “The Club,” who kept in close contact since grade school.
