Services held Monday for Ralph Hemry (Feb 1973)
Ralph R. Hemry, Brady area homesteader died at Pondera County Hospital in Conrad on Thursday, Feb 15, at the age of 86. Funeral services were held Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of at Conrad with the Rev. Philip Walborn officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery with the Wyse Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Hemry was born Jan 23, 1887, at Fremond, Ind. He spent his childhood in Indiana and Michigan, moving to the state of Washington at the age of 21. He homesteaded east of Brady in 1913, farming in the East Community until retiring to Conrad in 1958. He married Esther Koch in 1915 in Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1964 and by a son, Harold, in 1968. Survivors include two daughters, Irma Chevalier of Forsten, Minn., and Gladys Hjartarson of Cut Bank; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cecil Hemry of Hillsdale, Mich.
Pallbearers were Raymond Hjartson, Willard Hjartarson, Roy Hemry, Gary Hemry, Ron Hemry and Gordon Peterson, Honorary pallbearers were Torval Halverson, Keith Copenhaver, Oliver Ellingson, Paul Mannen, John Banka, Argyle Bishop and Alvin Forsman.
Out-of-town relatives attending the services included Irma Chevalier of Forsten, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zellmer of Davenport, Wash.
