George D. Hemry, son of Abraham and Mary Ann Hemry, was born at the old homestead in York township, Aug, 28, 1850, and passed away at his late home April 23, 1916, aged 65 years, 8 months and 25 days. He was of a family of ten children, three sisters-Rebecca Hanselman-having preceded him in death. He always lived in York township with the exception of five years in his youth, which were passed in Crawford Co., Ohio. On Dec. 31, 1874, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Stallman, and to them were born five children, two passing away in infancy, the remaining being Mrs. Rhoda Rouse, of Ransom, Mich., Ralph R., of Brady, Mont., and Cecil A., of Jerome, Mich. Shortly after his marriage he moved to the farm where he passed away, having lived continuously on the same farm for about thirty-nine years. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1912
On March 9, 1915, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Zeiters, who remains to mourn his loss. He was baptized a number of years ago in the Christian union faith and has ever lived a consistent Christian life.
About 10 years ago he was badly afflicted for a long time, but bore his suffering patiently and uncomplainingly. He recovered from his illness, for the Master saw that his work was not done.
He was honorable in his activities of life, and charitable in judgment. His kindly face and friendly greetings will be missed in the community where he lived so long. Deeply as we regret his passing away, our loss will be his gain.
He leaves to mourn, a wife, three children, two grandchildren, two brothers, John and Andrew, six sisters, Margaret Foster, Nancy Stants, Lydia Powers, Delilah Franks, Eva Gamber, and Lizzie Headley, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Steuben Republican
