Mr. Adams was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Little League baseball coach for over 20 years. He was a member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church in Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Emmett Adams, Sr. of Newellton.

He was survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith Compton Adams; three children, James Adams and wife Debbie of Monroe, Janna Adams Currie and husband Don of Memphis, TN, and Jeff Adams of Alexandria; five siblings, Jimmie Adams, Sr. of Hebert, Roy Adams of Farmerville, Helen Adams Luckett, Emmett Adams, Jr. and Billy Ray Adams, all of Newellton; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anita and R. E. Barnett of West Monroe; and 7 grandchildren.
