Brooks - Paul T. Brooks 80, of Rt 4 died this morning in William Newton Memorial Hosptial. He was born Jan. 14, 1895, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Thomas and Rebecca Brooks. He had lived in the Winfield area since early childhood. Mr. Brooks and Data Miles were married April 26, 1923, in Winfield. He was a World War 1 Veteran, a farmer and a member of the Winfield American Legion. He is survived by his wife: four sons, Dale of Newton, Kans., Lee of Lawrence, Kans., Ray of Sacramento, Calif., David of Winfield; three daughters, Mrs. Vernie (Shirley) Hendrix of Mankato, Kan., Mrs. Mark (Margaret) Kann of Morro Bay, Calif., Mrs. Nadie Stewart of Lewistown, Mont. ; two brothers, Luster of Phoeniz, Ariz., Earl of Caldwell, Idaho; four sisters, Mrs. Charley Smith, Mrs Dewey Slagle and Mrs. Bill Ruggles, all of Winfield; and Mrs. Mamie Terrill of Manhattan, Kans.,; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Swisher-Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral Services - for Paul T. Brooks were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Swisher-Taylor Chapel by the Rev. Lyle Miller. Delbert Daniel was vocalist, and Mrs. Charles Vasey played the organ. Casket bearers were; Wayne Smith, Dean Smith, Harvey Kearns, Donald Kearns, Melvin Ruggles and Thomas Brooks. Interment was in Tisdale Cemetery.
