Claude Burch, 85, 321 W. Shortridge Drive, Greensburg, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday in the Heritage House Nursing Home, Greensburg.

He was born March 10, 1908 in Owsley County, Ky., the son of Jasper and Emily Oldham Burch. For 25 years, he worked for H.H. Robertson and Co., Connersville. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A member of the Trinity Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher.

He was never married, and survivors include one brother, Clyde Burch, Liberty, Ind.; a nephew whom he raised, Don Mathews of Greensburg,and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Arthur, Walter, Tom, Wilson, Lenord and Walker Burch, and two sisters, Mary Mathews and Rhoda Burch.

The Rev. Ed Murray will conduct the services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, Ind.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
