BURCH-Clyde Burch, 97, of Woodbine, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross.
Born May 20, 1914, in Island City, Owsley Co., Ky. He was the son of the late Jasper & Emily Burch. The family moved to Franklin Co., Ind., in 1919, where Clyde grew up on Yellow Bank Creek. He married Violet Henderson in 1944 & they moved to Liberty Pike, Ind., & resided there for 50 years until moving to Woodbine in Sept. 2009.
Clyde served honorably in the United States Army as a military policeman from 1940-1945, during WWII, & was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbine.
A family visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys. Funeral services & interment will be held in Liberty, Ind., at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Clyde Burch be made to the First Baptist Church of Woodbine Building Fund, P.O. Box 296, Woodbine, GA 31569. Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys was in charge of arrangements.

Clyde Burch, 97, of Woodbine, Ga., formerly of Liberty, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross, Ga. had moved to Woodbine in 2009.
Born May 20, 1914, in Island City, Owsley Co., Ky. He was the son of the late Jasper & Emily Oldham Burch. The family moved to Franklin Co., Indiana in 1919 & Clyde grew up on Yellow Bank Creek. He joined the U.S. Army in 1940 & served in WWII as a military policeman until he was honorably discharged in 1945.
After his military career he moved to Liberty. He was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Liberty & a member of First Baptist Church in Woodbine.
Clyde was a sheet metal worker at H.H. Robertson, retiring in 1979 after 33 years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his farm, being outdoors & spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur, Walter, Wilson, Tom, Claude, Leonard & Walker Burch; two sisters, Rhoda Burch & Mary Matthews; & six infant great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church, 308 Meadow Lane, Liberty, with Pastor Dewey Hughes & Pastor Michael Null officiating. Friends & family may visit two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial with graveside military services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
Arrangements are under the care of Urban Winkler Funeral Home.
