Jonathan Palmer was the son of Nehemiah Palmer (born Mass. Nov 22, 1637 Charlestown, MA- died Feb 17, 1717 in Stonington), and Hannah Lord Stanton (born Hartford, CT Mar 24, 1644- died Oct 17, 1727 in Stonington).

On Dec 01, 1706, in Stonington, New London Co., CT, Jonathan married Marcy/Mercy Manwaring, the daughter of Oliver Manwaring (born Mar 16, 1633 in England- died Nov 03, 1723 in New London Co., CT) and Hannah Raymond (born c 1642- died Dec 18, 1717, New London Co., CT).

On 17 Feb 1715 Benjamin Palmer gave "to my cousin Johnathan Palmer Jr., 6 acres of land lying in the neck, by the land of his uncle Jonathan Palmer, he to possess it when he arrives at the age of 21 years."

On 4 Sept 1716 Nehemiah Palmer gave to his son Jonathan Palmer "My 12 acre lot and the 50 acre grant of land on the East side of the Pawcatuck River which contains land not yet laid out."

On 24 March 1717 Daniel, Nehemiah, Ichabod and his wife Hannah Palmer all heirs to Nehemiah Palmer deceased, made out a quit claim deed of all their rights to their father's estate to their brother Jonathan Palmer.

On 11 Nov 1748 William Herrick with his wife Marcy of Preston CT, Jonathan and Love Shepard of Killingly, CT, Henry and Irene Rowling (Rowland), Mathew and Elizabeth Dorr of Lyme, CT, together with Hannah Palmer "Spinster" of Stonington, gave a quit claim deed to their brother Johnathan Palmer of all their rights to land lying on the East side of the Pawcatuck River, which were part of the estate of "our parents" Jonathan and Marcy (Mercy) Palmer both deceased.

Jonathan Palmer's will was drawn 24 June 1726. In it he states that he was very ill. He gave his wife Mercy, one third of his housings and personal estate; Judith, Mercy, Sarah (Hannah), Anna, Jerusha, Love, Prudence and Elizabeth his daughters, were each to receive 50 pounds, all under 18 years of age. His son Jonathan was to receive one-half of the lands when he came of age. The will was entered 21 Oct 1726. (Note- the will refers to daughter spinster Hannah as Sarah).

Love married Dec 23, 1736 in Stonington- Jonathan Shepherd b Aug 6 1709 in Norton MA, died Mar 26, 1798 in Windsor, Windsor Co., Vermont at age 88. They had 10 children. Love Palmer-Shepard petitioned CT Superior courts probably in county of New London for divorce on the grounds of "abuse" and "fear for life". The divorce was granted Aug 27, 1764 to Jonathan Shepard who claimed "desertion". Jonathan then married Mary "Polly" Underwood Jan 31, 1765 in Sandisfield, Berkshire, Massachusetts.
Love married 2nd an unknown Hearick. The surname on the gravestone is hard to decipher but clear in the close up;
