Maxine Hobbs, 78, of Mediapolis, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born Nov. 23, 1932, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of George and Lula Wolverton Bryant. In March 1950, she married Leland Hobbs. He died Sept. 13, 2010. Mrs. Hobbs attended Morning Sun High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Hobbs and Bob Hobbs, both of Mediapolis, Bryan Hobbs of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Darlene Dean of Morning Sun. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Hobbs has donated her body to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy. A memorial service for Mrs. Hobbs will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Morning Sun United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. A memorial has been established. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis is assisting the family with arrangements.
