Marguerite is the daughter of Michel Richard and Agnes Bourgeois. She married Rene Lanoue on 8 January 1732, in Port-Royal, Acadie. They are the parents of at least the following:

1) Amand (1736-1815) md Marie Melanson
2) Jean-Baptiste (1738-1781)
3) Gregoire (1741-)
4) Pierre (1744-1793) md Mary Doane
5) Basile (1746-1833) md (a) Hannah Vinyard and (b) Suzanne Frizelle
6) Francois-Regis (1750-1756)

Marguerite and her children were deported to Charleston, South Carolina, in 1755. They were either being housed or working on the Stanyarne Plantation (currently called the Vanderhost’s Plantation). Stanyarne Plantation encompassed all of Johns Island at the time.

Marguerite and her youngest son, Jean-Francois-Regis, both died in 1756 of small pox, while living on the plantation. They may have been buried in an unmarked area of the plantation rather than in the area that this cemetery covers, but since it was part of the same plantation, I am entering their memorials here.

Deported Acadians were considered prisoners of war and normally treated very poorly.

The following was provided by ReeT #46840564:

"Rene and Marguerite had another son Joseph born 2 Feb 1734 and bap. 28 Apr 1734 at St. Jean Baptiste R.C. Ch. Annapolis Royal."
