Reported age at time of death was 38 years, so evidently born about 1819. Josiah PRANGLIN married 02 JUN 1846 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Jane Ann GIDDINGS.

Mary Jane Galer's "COLUMBUS, GA: Lists of People, 1828-1852, and Sexton's Reports, p. 213, shows: Josiah PRANGLIN died aged 38 years of pneumonia and was buried 10 OCT 1857 (from "October 1, 1857 to January 1, 1858, Sexton's Report," dated 07 JAN 1858; the sexton was Thomas NIX). John H. Martin's "The Making of a Modern City: Columbus, Georgia, 1827-65," Volume II (1875), p.101 (from the version of the Sexton's report published in the newspaper), confirms the record.

In the Columbus (GA) Daily Sun newspaper of 03 OCT 1857, "Joseph" PRANGLIN is listed as Fire Warden for City Ward 6 in Columbus.

Daughter Ann Elizabeth "Lizzie" PRANGLIN married 24 JUN 1868 in Putnam County, Georgia, to Col. Alfred Harvey COATES

Son John A. PRANGLIN

Daughter Clara (PRANGLIN) JENKINS "MRS. ALEC JENKINS // EATONTON, Ga., June 8.--Mr. Alec JENKINS, 79, prominent Putnam county woman, died late this afternoon at her home near Eatonton after a long illness. // Mrs. JENKINS was Miss Clara PRANGLING [sic] before her marriage. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. // Five children survive as follows: Miss Annie Laurie JENKINS and Louis JENKINS, of Putnam county; Mrs. W. C. WRIGHT and Mrs. George NORRIS, of Atlanta, and Mrs. Tom DANIEL, Griffin; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild." [Macon (GA) Telegraph newspaper, Sunday, 09 JUN 1935, p. 9.]

Buster Wright's "Burials and Deaths Reported in the Columbus (Georgia) Enquirer [Newspaper], 1832-1872" (1984), p. 379, shows: Josiah PRANGLIN, born in England, died 09 OCT 1857, aged 38 years (reported 20 OCT 1857, 27 OCT 1857 & 12 JAN 1858).

This grave is probably not identifiably marked. Based on the burial date, this grave would be in the Old Cemetery section, Section 1, or Section 2 (unless it was subsequently reinterred to another part of the cemetery).
