Rella M. Blair, 86, of 14423 Extract Road, Mount Union, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 15, 2014, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.

Born Dec. 21, 1927, in Three Springs, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Lillie Mae (Rupert) Grissinger. She was united in marriage to Andrew Blair May 1, 1946, in Waterfall, by Rev. Chauncey Varner. Her husband preceded her in death on March 10, 1987.

Mrs. Blair is survived by her children, John Blair and wife, Ruth, of McVeytown, Ronald Blair and wife, Bonnie, of Mount Union, Pat Shontz of Granville, Lois O’Donnell and husband, Robbie, of Shade Gap, and Richard Blair and wife, Jan, of Shirleysburg; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Ellen Naugle of Hares Valley, Blanche Grissinger of Huntingdon,Erma Baer of North Carolina, Harold Grissinger and wife, Ellamae, of Levittown, and Beatrice Sandsmark of South Bend, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Bumgardner; a brother, Irvin Grissinger; and an infant brother.

Mrs. Blair was a member and very active in the Cedar Crest Lucy Furnace Chapel, Mount Union, where she had served as treasurer for over 20 years.

She was very active and enjoyed her involvement with the Bricktown Seniors, Mount Union.

Mrs. Blair retired from employment as a waitress at Miller’s Diner, Mill Creek, and had worked a number of years at the former L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing and the former Genesco, both in Mount Union.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Dan Long officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
