Born September 22, 1931 in Todd, PA, he was the son of the lateIra W. andMae (Rupert) Grissinger.
He spent his early life in Todd, PA, graduating from Mount Union High School. He married Cora I. (Emory) Grissinger in 1954 in Hagerstown, MD. They met at Site R, while Irvin was serving in the United States Army.
Mr. Grissinger and Cora moved their family to Blue Ridge Summit in 1974 and to their current address in 2001.
He was a truck driver, working for Hoffman Trucking Co., Greencastle, PA. After he retired, he worked at the Cavetown Planing Mill Co. in Smithsburg, MD.
Mr. Grissinger enjoyed the outdoors. He hunted, fished, and did carpentry work. He also loved traveling with his family in the Winnebago RV, all across the country.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Ira W. Grissinger, Waynesboro; Deborah M. Love and Beverly Jean Ruiz, both of Elkhart, Indiana; Danny L. Grissinger and Naomi S. "Cooki" Myers, both of Waynesboro and Skeater W. Grissinger, Hagerstown, MD;18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Grissinger; four sisters: Blanche Grissinger, Ellen Naugle, Rella Blair and Beatrice Samark and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Fred Edward Grissinger, who died Sept. 25, 2001; a sister, Francis Bumgardner and a brother, Blair Shade.
Services will be at 2: 00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home Burial will follow in Calvary Chapel Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
