Agnes May Dyer, 92, of Benningfield Court, passed away peacefully at her home among friends and family Nov. 24, 2006. Agnes was born May 29, 1914, to James and Gwendolyn Jones of Milford Haven, Wales, and moved to the United States after World War II. She was a lifelong homemaker devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to redecorate. She loved to dance and was still "cutting the rug" at 92. She had a great sense of humor. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. Dyer; her parents; a brother, Ted; and a sister, Olive. She is survived by sons, Roy B. Dyer and his wife Nancy of Springboro, Ohio, and Ronald J. Dyer and his wife Jane Goldman of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Todd J. Dyer and his wife Sarah, Scott E. Dyer and Sarah D. Silliano; and two great-grandchildren, Madalina Silliano and Kylee Dyer. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff of Odyssey Health Care Hospice for their wonderful support of Agnes, and special gratitude to Ms. Cheryl Thorpe for her constant, heartfelt loving care. Agnes will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James E. Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home, Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Odyssey Foundation, 6363 Central Drive, Lynnhaven Bldg., Suite 102, Norfolk. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel is handling arrangements.
