Mrs. Bertha Rogers, 73, of Ava. died Sunday night of an apparent heart attack in a doctor's office in Murphysboro.

She was born June 4, 1888, in Sand Ridge Township, the daughter of Alex and Effie Ahl. She was married to Charles Fulgham. She was later married to William Henry Rogers, who died in 1934.

Mrs. Rogers leaves a son, Robert Rogers of Murphysboro; daughters Mrs. Anna Jane Weathers of Ava, Mrs. Ray Dodson of St. Louis, and Mrs. Mildred Engles of East St. Louis; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucy Phelps of Jacob; 19 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Amos Ahl of Chicago and a sister, Mrs. Clara Matheny of Du Quoin.

One son, one daughter, and one step-son all preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Murphysboro.

Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava after 2 p. m. Tuesday until services Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Worthen Cemetery.
