Pioneer Resident of the County Succums to a Complication of Diseases
Leman L. Culver, a pioner resident of Bay City, passed away Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at his home 1107 Third street, from a complication of liver and kidney troubles, after an illness of about six months. He had been hovering between life and death for the past two weeks and the end was not unexpected. The surviving members of his family were at the bedside when dissolution took place.
Mr. Culver was born at Simcoe, Norfolk county, Ontario, in 1831. In 1853 he was married to Marie L. Sovereign and soon thereafter located at Buffalo, N.Y., where he engaged in the coal business. In 1867 he moved to this city and embarked in the lumber business in which he was successful for a number of years. In the meantime he acquired a farm aand at the conclusion of his active business career he settled down to a quiet life of tiling the soil. About five years ago he moved into the city, leaving the care of the farm to his son.
The deceased was well known throughout this section of the state and retained an enviable reputation for honesty and integrity. He is survived by two sons, Frank L. Culver, of Toronto, Ont., and A. J. Culver, of Hampton township. The funeral will take place from the residence. Rev. C. T. Patchell, pastor of the First congregation church will officiate. Interment at Elm Lawn
