Kenneth was born to Hans and Nettie (Aune) Haugen on September 11, 1924 in Pearl Lake Township, rural LaMoure. He attended rural school through the eighth grade. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and began his life long career of farming. On December 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Esther Ketterling. They lived and farmed two miles north of Benson Corners, before moving to the family farm north of Verona. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society on September 10, 2013.
Kenneth was active on several boards, which included the Verona School Board, Black Loam Township, St. John's Lutheran Church, Federal Land Bank, the Book Mobile, and he was a 4-H Leader. He was also a life time member of the American Legion and the VFW.
