Kenneth "Sam" Haugen Jr., 69, of Verona, ND died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Black Loam Township.
Kenneth, the oldest of four boys, was born to Kenneth Sr. and Esther (Ketterling) Haugen in LaMoure, ND. Sam spent most of his childhood growing up on the family farm near Verona and graduated from Verona High School in 1966. After graduation, he went to work on the family farm until the late 80’s when he spent 6-8 years working for a local hog operation. Once the hog operation had closed down, Sam went back to the family farm to work with his dad and brothers. On July 3, 1993, Sam was united in marriage to Annetta Kronbeck Holen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Verona, ND.
Besides his love for agriculture and farming, Sam really enjoyed hunting, working with and riding horses, and being a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Verona.
He is survived by his mother, Esther; three brothers, Bruce Haugen, Glenn (Gina) Haugen, and Wayne (Cari) Haugen; Annetta's children, Tamara Lewis, Michael (Cathy) Holen, Kimberly (Linus) Thomas Jr., DeeAnn (James) Wanner, and Suzanne (Corey) Nitschke; three nieces and one nephew; and great nephew. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Annetta and father, Kenneth Sr.
There will be a visitation held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran
