OMAK - Albert E. Short, 77, of Omak, WA, formerly of Yakima, quietly passed away Thursday morning, November 16, 2006 at his son's home in Omak.

Dad was born in Yakima to Ernest and Rose (Gaudette) Short. He was raised in Yakima and attended Marquette High School. He served in the US Navy on the USS Arkansas, the USS Rockwall, the USS Rudderow, and the USS F. B. Parks. He was honorably discharged. Dad was a member of VFW post 902.

He married Dorothy Jean Burgess on December 4, 1948. Dad worked for Boise Lumber and after a work accident he changed his career path. He moved his family to Omak, WA in 1969 while working for the State of Washington. Dad retired from the state in 1986 as an auditor.

Dad loved to fish. His most enjoyable moments were those of his fishing trips with his father, brother-in-law, sons, and family. He could spend and did spend hours with a pole in his hand. He enjoyed camping and hunting. Football, car races, and wrestling were his favorite TV programs. His grandsons would spend this special time with him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Short, his parents, and his sister, Marilynn Short.

He is survived by his daughters; Dianne (Mike) Beeghly of Moxee, WA and Karen (Dan) Dengel of Omak, WA, his sons; Kenneth (Janet) Short of Selah, WA and Michael (Kris) Short of Omak, WA and grandchildren; Tracy Oldham, Renn Beeghly, Marci Pulliam, Brian Short, Kimberly Miller, Jeremy Kauffman, Ryan Dengel, Chad Short, Kyle Short, Rani Short, and Christopher Short, plus 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters; Donna (Al) Sandvig, Joyce (Ervin) Hoover, and Celina May Walker, his Uncle Ben and Aunt Ida Short and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors from 1 pm to 7 pm.

A tribute service will be held at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 11 am. Concluding burial and military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery followed by a reception at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors, 201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA.
