Perry Ray Carpenter, 78, of Lyons, passed away on Wednesday, July 13 at Greene County General Hospital.
Born May 5, 1938 in Linton, he was the son of Gail E. and Agnes Irene (Dove) Carpenter.
He retired as a farmer, logger and a school bus driver. He attended the Lyons Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, antique cars and being a mechanic.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Etta Jean Carpenter; his children, Debra Criss (Jack), Susie Carpenter Hamilton, James Scott Carpenter, Todd Carpenter (Juli), Andy Carpenter (Jeri), Tim Carpenter (Laura) and Dianna Fulk (Onnie); two sisters, Dolly Pickett and Nancy Gillespie; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry Axe and Linda Canady and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 18 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Lyons, with Rev. Gerald DeVore officiating. Interment will follow in Switz City Cemetery.
Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
