Agnes Irene Carpenter, 83, of Jasonville, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Bloomington Hospital. Born April 6, 1921 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle (Padgett) Dove. She had been married to Gail E. Carpenter, who passed away Dec. 3, 1990. She was a factory worker from Sarkes Tarzian, retiring after 27 years of service and was a member of Lyons Assembly of God Church and attended Jasonville Church of God. Survivors include: one son Ray and his wife Jean Carpenter of Lyons; four daughters, Dollie and her husband Ray Pickett of Switz City, Nancy Y. and her husband David Gillespie of Dugger, Linda and her husband Albert Canady of Midland, and Sherry and her husband Glenn Orman Axe of Jasonville; one sister Rosie Trusty of Vicksburg; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gail E. Carpenter, two brothers, one sister, two grandsons, and two great-great granddaughters. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Burris Chapel Cemetery, Sullivan County, with Brother Gerald Dove officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
