She was born Feb. 26, 1947 in Greene County, to Gail Eathel Carpenter and Agnes Irene (Dove) Carpenter.
Survivors include her son, Rodney Axe and Pam of Gosport, IN; daughters, Regina Axe and Jon of Jasonville, Rayetta and Wes Cody of Linton, Victoria Axe of Linton; grandchildren, Billie Jo Axe, Amanda Axe, Stormi Alsman, Kyle Alsman, Jacob Cody, Wesley Cody, Thomas Cody, Cory Cody, Madison Axe; companion, Glenn Orman of Jasonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dollie Pickett of Switz City, Nancy and Dave Gillespie of Dugger, Linda and Albert Canady of Jasonville; brother, Ray Carpenter and Jean of Lyons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jimmy Dale Axe; husband, Gayle Axe who passed away in 1991.
Sherry was a supervisor/welder at Keller Aluminum in Linton and had most recently worked in housekeeping at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to fish and camp. She also enjoyed sewing.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville.
No public visitation or funeral services are scheduled.
Interment will be at the Burris Chapel Cemetery in Greene County.
