Samuel Cobb, son of Henry and Jemima (Morse) Cobb, served in the 3rd SC militia for the Revolutionary War beginning September 05, 1776. On May 05, 1785, he was awarded 500 acres along Reedy River in SC for war services.

Samuel married twice. His first wife, Miss Ransom, and two of his children died in an Indian raid on his SC homestead in 1769.

He married his second wife, Judah Peake, around 1781 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Donalds, South Carolina. They and their children moved in 1795 to Lusby's Mill, Owen Co., Ky.
