John Adams Died Tuesday -
Resident here 50 years, Dies at His Home; Funeral Services Saturday
John Adams, resident of this community for 50 years, died at his home Tuesday following long suffering from cancer. Funeral arrangements have been made for Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from St. Ann’s Catholic church.
Born on July 4, 1878 in New Trier, Dakota county, John Adams came to the Wadena community when four years of age, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Adams. He grew to young manhood on his father’s farm and worked with his father on the farm until he was about 26 or 27 years of age.
He came from the farm to Wadena to work in the old Ebner mill. He was steadily employed at the mill until it was sold to the Equity Cooperative society. Then he went to work for the Ebner Garage where he worked until a year or so ago when his health forced his retirement.
A quiet kindly man with a cheerful disposition and a droll sense of humor Mr. Adams had a wide circle of friends in Wadena and the surrounding country. His passing brings a touch of grief to the many families who were acquainted with him.
Growing of flowers was the hobby of Mr. Adams and it was one of his tasks, while at the Ebner garage, to keep the flower garden on the south side of the garage blooming.
Mr. Adams was a faithful communicant of St. Ann’s Catholic church and was a member of various fraternal orders. He was also a member of the Wadena Fire Department.
He is survived by his father, Joseph Adams of this city, aged 93. He is also survived by his sister, Kate, and by two brothers, Anton and Theodore, both of this city.
