Joseph Adams, Pioneer Of City, Long Ill, Dies At 98
The death of Joseph Adams, who would have reached his 99th birthday next month, occurred at home here early Tuesday morning, terminating months of illness from various complications with which he was long bed-ridden.
Funeral services will be held from St. Ann’s Catholic church Saturday and burial will be in Wadena cemetery. Rev. Francis Lenger, pastor of the church, will officiate.
A resident of Wadena for 32 years, Mr. Adams came here from Hastings, Dakota county, to farm in Compton township. He was born on December 20, 1837 at Scheid, Germany, and came to America at the age of 29.
Survivors are two children, Kate and Anton, both of Wadena. His daughter has remained in her father’s home as his housekeeper and nurse. Two other sons died in recent years. There are four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, also surviving.
