Alamosa, Colo. resident Margaret Shawcroft, 84, died Nov. 11, 2006 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.
She was born April 15, 1922 in Manassa, Colo. to Charles and Pearl Rogers Holmes. She married her husband of more than 64 years, Amos Shawcroft, on May 19, 1940 in Taos, N.M., and he preceded her in death May 7, 2005.
Margaret was a homemaker, and helped on the family ranch. Her family was very important to her, and she especially enjoyed spending time with them during the holidays. She left a great legacy of love, and will be remembered for her sense of humor. During high school Margaret played girls basketball and their team won the 1939 State Championship.
She is survived by her children Bruce (Janice) Shawcroft of Castle Rock, Colo., Dan (Nell) Shawcroft of Jerome, Idaho, Darlene (Jim) Abernathy of Green Valley, Ariz., Kathy (Jerome) Parsons and Jerry (Philomina) Shawcroft both of Alamosa, Judy (George) Kelloff of Monte Vista, Colo. and Bill Shawcroft of Pueblo, Colo.; her sister Alma Walsh of Farmington, N.M., as well as 20 grandchildren, and 22 great-granchildren.
Her parents, her husband, eight brothers, two sisters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter all preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wed., Nov. 15, 2006 at the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Alamosa Fourth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and may be made through the funeral home office.
