Billy Joe Thomas, 54, Topeka, died Feb. 25, 1989, at a Topeka hospital of complications following open heart surgery.
Mr. Thomas was certified as an alcoholism-drug addictions counselor by the Kansas Alcoholism Drug Addictions Counselors Ass'n the past 15 years. He currently was program manager of Stepping Stones Halfway House for Services for Alcohol Related problems.
He was born Oct. 6, 1934, at Koshkonong, Mo., the son of James Marion and Lulah Iva Ozbirn Thomas.
Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1959 and lived in Topeka since 1959.
He was married to Catherine A. McGrath. She survives, along with daughters, both of Topeka,; a brother, three sisters, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
Services were held at Parker-Price Mortuary.
