John was the third child born to David Williams Esq. 1754-1823 and Jane Jones 1769-1834. The family hailed from Saethon, Llanfihangel Bachellaeth in North Wales.

John became a solicitor and prospered purchasing land and establishing a successful law firm. He was instrumental in urging younger brother, David to enter the same profession which he did in 1820.

It was John who owned land at Bron Eryri which later became Castell Deudraeth. Younger brother David having purchased it from him circa 1850.

John practiced law at Llanfyllin in Montgomeryshire and became High Sheriff of Merioneth in 1841.

John married Anne Smith 1796-1859 of Llanllechid, Caernarvonshire circa 1821 (based on eldest daughter, Jane's birth in 1822).

John and Anne produced four children that we know of... three died tragically young
