Marian "Ann" Kroning (Welter), age 88, formerly of West Chicago, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at DuPage Convalescent Center, Wheaton, IL. She was born on January 19, 1928, in Wheaton to Nicholas and Mary (Weis) Welter. Ann grew up in Wheaton and West Chicago and graduated from West Chicago High School in 1945. She was a longtime member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in West Chicago. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Leon C. Kroning & Sons and was as a devoted mother to her eight children. She loved her family, word puzzles, handcrafts, birds, gardening, and holding babies. Ann is survived by her daughters, Donna (Jerry) Zeller, Patti (Mike) Poole, Susie Swanson, Becky (Paul) Regnier, and Leanne (Tom) Scheffler; sons, Charlie (Dee) Kroning and Tom (Colleen) Kroning; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Begerman; many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth and Katherine Welter, Betty Adamson, and Esther Klingberg; and brothers, John and Richard Welter; and former husband Leon Kroning; daughter, Cyndi (Tom) Rathbun; son-in-law, Michael O'Rourke; and daughter-in-law, Debra Kroning. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago.
