Funeral services for George Thomas Skelton, 66, who died April 12 at his home in the Moyie Springs community, were held last Saturday, April 14, at the Whitney funeral chapel. Donald E. Van Hoozer of Eureka, Mont., conducted the services.
Hymns were sung by Miss Rosalin Franks, Mrs. Marc Nelson and Mrs. Fay Hummel, accompanied by Mrs. Martha Kramer.
Pall bearers were Merle Nelson, Arthur Pierson, King Oziah, Burt Nelson, Carl Franks and George Miller. Interment was in Grandview cemetery. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars conducted military rites.
Mr. Skelton was born August 1, 1889, at Denver. As a young man he spent several years working on cattle ranches in Montana. He married the former Laura Alice Mathews at Great Falls, on July 10, 1917. She survives as his widow.
He was a member of the American Legion, having served with the AEF in France during World War I.
In addition to his widow he leaves a son, Harold A. Skelton of Bonners Ferry; a nephew, Fred Skelton of Conrad, Mont.; and a niece, Mrs. Harry Behrman of Moyie Springs.
Attending the services from out of town were Mrs. Nellie Skelton and Ted of Conrad, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Skelton of Roseburg, Ore.; Mrs. Pearl Metrovich and Mrs. Nettie Mathews of Coffee Creek, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Mat Morice of Moses Lake, Wash.
