Charles Oliver Brinton, youngest child of the late Thomas E. and Emma Hollingsworth Brinton was born at Starfield, Mo, near Union Star, on April 9,1886 and departed life at his home in Martinsville, MO April 23,1960 at the age of 74 years and 14 days. Most of his boyhood days were spent in the Brooklyn Comunity. He was converted early in life and united with Hazel Valley Methodist Church. He was united in marriage to Besssie Dale on Dec. 20, 1903. to this union four children were born. Olan of Cottonwood, California, Clarence of Red Bluff, Calif., Stanley preceded him in death in 1927 at the age of 18, and Cleta Mae died in infancy. This marriage was dissolved by the death of Bessie in 1912. In 1918 he served with the United States Army for a period of 14 months. On Aug 10, 1919, he was united in marriage to Ida Maude Wooly. They adoped a son, Homer Carl "Bud" now residing in St. Joseph, Mo. Most of his wedded life was spent in western Kansas near Lakin. He was both a farmer and capenter. When he retired due to ill health about five years ago, he moved to St. Joseph, and a few months ago he moved to Martinsville, MO. He was a memer of the American Legion for many years. Charley was the last survior of a family of five children. His parents, a brother, Ben Brinton, and three sisters; Efffie Peasly, Marchie Hook and an infant sister preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father and a good neighbor. During his last years of suffering, which had bore with patience and faith, he loved to have his realatives near. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, three sons, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Martinsville Christian Church Tuesday April 26 at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Earl Ledbetter. Pallbeares were nephews, Don Hook, Orbal Hook, Lee Hook,Boyce Bolar,Bobby Eisenbarger, and Kyle Hook.
Burial in the Kidwell Cemetery under the direction of Hass and Son.
