Emma Hollingsworth Brinton was born near Bean Lake March 25,1848. The daughter of Jacob B Hollingsworth and Mary Moore Hollingsworth. She died in St. Joseph, MO at the home of her daughter Mrs. C.B. Peasley, Nov. 24,1941 at the age of 93 years and 8 months. She suffered a broken hip before her death, and her suffering was intense, but she bore it as a brave soldier, as she did everything else that came upon her. She became a member of the Presbyterian Church when she was quite young. In later years as no church of her denomination was near she placed her membership with the Methodist Church, living a true Christian live as long as she lived. When she was 25 years old she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Brinton Sept 12,1872. He passed away July 15, 1938. Preceding her in death is a infant daughter. Mrs. Brinton was the oldest of six children of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hollingsworth who came from Indiana almost a century ago. In her girl hood she moved to Jefferson County KS and lived there several years before going to Agency community. Mrs. Brinton is survived by two daughters Mrs. Marchie Hook, Martinsville , and Mrs. Effie Peasley, of St. Joseph, two sons, Benjamin B. Brinton, St Joseph, and Charlie O Brinton, of Atchison KS. Sixteen grandchildren, one adopted grandson, 25 great grandchildren and 9 great great grand children. Besides a host of relatives and friends. The four surviving children were with her to comfort and care for her in her last days. Grandma was a great favorite among her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Services will be at 11 o'clock the Fleeman mortuary with the Rev. E.L. Roberison officiating. The body will be taken to Martinsville MO for burial, preceded by a service at two o'oclock in the afternoon at the Martinville Methodist Church.

In 1937 Thomas and Emma celebrated their 65th wedding anniversry. Family members loaded up in John Booher's truck for a trip to St. Joseph, Mo for the celebration. 52 family members were present.
