Lydia was the daughter of Jeremiah and Mary (Dickey) Hadley. She married Samuel Cox on Feb 1, 1783 in Alamance, North Carolina. After her husband's early death in 1808 (Ross County, Ohio), Lydia and her brothers (Joshua and Jeremiah) moved to Morgan County, Indiana and settled around Mooresville.
After Samuel's death,she married a man named Griggs (according to Quaker records), although she was known in Indiana as Lydia Hadley Cox. Note: Ross County, Ohio marriage records show Lydia Cox marrying William Gregg Dec 31, 1815. She is buried next to Simon B. Hadley and his wife Sarah. Her marker is lost and was replaced by a rock.
