Winona Bennett KANSAS Winona Dorcas Ashmore Bennett, 100, of Kansas died at 4:05 p.m. Friday (April 23, 1993) at the Shelbyville Manor Nursing Home in Shelbyville. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sutton and Son Funeral Home, Kansas. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born March 22, 1893, in Coles County, a daughter of James A. and Rebecca Gough Ashmore. She married Brent A. Bennett in Douglas County. He died in 1954.

Survivors include one son, Robert Bennett of Chrisman; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Townsend of Shelbyville; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Kansas Christian Church, Kansas American Legion Auxiliary in which she held several offices, and she served as Poppy Day chairman for more than 50 years.
