"She spent her childhood and youth in and around Jerome. She was married to W. S. Crouch Oct. 13, 1880, at the home of Rev. J. M. Loughridge, who was a local minister and intimate friends of the family. To this union five children were born, Charles W. of Kennedy, Texas, John W. of Cedar Rapids, James J. of Wheaton, Ill., Mrs. Guy Chrisinger of Kalispell, Mont., and Edgar Clifton, who preceded her in death 28 years ago.
"In the early part of her married life, she and her husband pioneered near Coldwater, Kansas, afterwards returning to Appanoose county where they lived on several different farms and last residing on what is now the Oughton farm east of Jerome. From there they moved to Kalispell, Mont., in 1910 and lived there until her husband's health failed, when they went to California for Mr. Crouch's health. There he passed away on March 19, 1918. The 20 remaining years of her life she spent with her children at various points in Iowa, Illinois and Montana, and a part of the time was spent with her brother and sister in Jerome.
"She united with the M. E. church in early girlhood and was a regular attendant until her health would not permit.
"She was a kind and loving mother and ever a thoughtful and helpful neighbor, always spending her life in service to others.
"She leaves too mourn their loss, four children, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Emma Ogle of Jerome, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends."
