The 1900 census gives her birth date as March 1848.

Mrs. Martha T. Kennedy died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.J. Parker, Nov 8, 1931. She was a daughter of Captain William Turner Sadler and Permelia Bennett Sadler. Her father came to Texas in 1835. He was a veteran of the Texas War of Independence. She was born in Anderson county and resided there all her life.

She was a consistent member of the Baptist church, joining in her early girlhood.

She was married to Thomas Kennedy on July 29, 1869. To this union seven children were born, Mrs. R.F. (Hettie) Hendrix, Mrs. B.J. (Docia) Parker and Mrs. W.R. (Iciphenia) Bennett of Elkhart; Mrs. Phebe Smith of Waco; W.J. Kennedy, deceased, S.B. Kennedy of Elkhart and R.L. Kennedy of Grapeland.

When death came she was surrounded by all her children and many grandchildren and a host of friends. She is survived by 38 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

There were many out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral, among them were Judge B.J. Kennedy, Tom Pickett, W.B. James, Jimmie Moore, Archie D. Brown, M.P. Edmundson, H.J. Sutton, A.G. Godley, R.R. Sadler and many others from Palestine; from Grapeland Mrs. Joe Sadler, Iva Sadler, Pearl Guice, Burton Wallace and wife, Claude Sanders wife and children, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Hollingsworth of Corsicana and Mrs. Sidney White of Houston.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church by her pastor, Rev. W.L. Marlin, assisted by Rev. Calvin Nelson of Palestine. The floral offerings were beautiful. Interment was made in Pilgrim cemetery by (beside) her husband.

The pall bearers were her grandsons, J.B. Parker, Ernest Kennedy, Tom Hendrix, Jack Parker, Elwin Bennett and Allie Kennedy.
