Harvey Ray Edwards, 79, of Bassett, Va., passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born July 9, 1936 in Magdalene WVA to the late Maggie Moore Edwards and the late George Buford Edwards, Sr. He is preceded in death by his brothers, John William Edwards and George Buford Edwards, Jr.
Mr. Edwards was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. He worked for Bassett Furniture Industries. Harvey was a caring and loving man.
Harvey is survived by his sister, Laura B. Ashby and husband Jimmy of Snow Creek, Va.; twin brother, Robert Edwards of Bassett, Va.; a lot of great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Robin Davis, Pat Moran, and Cheryl Elkins, as well as, Roanoke Memorial Hospital; Mickey and Joyce Witcher and all the Doctors and Nurses that cared for Mr. Edwards in his time of need.
The funeral will be 2:00, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel with Ministers Mickey Witcher and Don Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel and other times at the home of Jimmy and Laura Ashby of Penhook, Va.
