Ruby Cabe Deitz, 85, of Tatham Creek Road, Sylva, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at her residence after a period of declining health.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Thursday) in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Revs. Dan Stiles and Robert Blanton officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, in Wesleyanna Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the funeral home.

She was a native of Jackson County and a member of Wesleyanna Methodist Church. She worked for Sylco as a machine operator. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Mamie McCoy Cabe.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lou Deitz, who died in infancy; and three brothers, Waye Cabe, Eugene Cabe and J.C. Cabe.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, David Deitz; two sons, Joe Deitz and William "Bill" Deitz, both of Sylva; one daughter, Sandra Deitz of Sylva; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Murphy and Rita Shelton of Whittier; one brother, Kenneth Cabe of Bryson City; and two grandchildren.
