Kenneth Kiker Cabe, of the Needmore Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 31st, 2013 at his residence.

A native of Jackson County, he had been a resident of Swain County for the past 27 years. He was the son of the late Frank and Mamie McCoy Cabe.

Kenneth was retired with 30 years of service with the U.S. Navy, having served in Vietnam and Korean Wars. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Waye Cabe, Eugene Cabe, and J.C. Cabe, and two sisters, Ruby Deitz, and Ruth Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sherry Johnson Cabe; three children, Sonia Monteith and husband Jimmy of Bryson City, Dustin Cabe and wife Emily of Bryson City, and Shana Jenkins and husband Seth of Stecoah; four grandchildren, Ally Parker, Peyton Jenkins, Gracie Monteith, and Audrey Monteith, and one sister, Rita Shelton and husband Roger of Whittier.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Maple Springs Baptist Church of which he was a member. Revs. David Burch, Roy Lindsay, and Roger Freeman will officiate with burial in the Maple Springs Cemetery with full Military graveside rites.
