Ethel was the daughter of Edward REEF (b. 1867) and Luella Emmaline JERVIS (b. 1869). She was the sister of Walter, Arthur, Robert, and Rebecca. On Dec. 24, 1913, in Carroll County, Indiana, she married Marvin BEARD. She gave birth to their son Russell in 1915 in Carroll County, Indiana. She birthed their son Glen in 1917 in Indiana. She, Marvin, and their two young sons moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, before 1920. Marvin worked on his uncle's farm, and Ethel birthed a set of twins -- a boy and a girl. Before 1930, the family moved back to Indiana.

She was a kind lady for her entire life. Her last big activity was to send a Christmas card to every person whose name was in her address book. She hand-addressed every envelope and signed every card.
