Mrs. Piro grew up in Pensacola, FL, moving to West Monroe in 1963. She worked as a nurse in various capacities until her retirement in 1996. She was an LPN for many years, then returned to school at age 55 to earn an Associate Degree of Nursing from Louisiana Tech.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Curtis James and Donald James; one sister, Helen Dominy; her sister-in-law, Marion James; her husband, Jerry Cotita; her husband, Harry Minton; and her stepson, Luis Gomez.
She was survived by her husband, Joseph Piro of West Monroe; four sons, Michael Cotita and wife Emerita of Atlanta, GA, John Glenn Cotita and wife Jill of Rolla, MO, Stephen Randal Cotita and wife Connie of Nova Scotia, and Tim Cotita and wife Missy of Monroe; four stepchildren, Joseph Piro and wife Kelly of Jackson, MS, Paul Piro of Monroe, Mary Ann Piro of West Monroe, and William "Steele" Minton of New Haven, KY; two brothers, Houston James and Bert Brown; two sisters, Vi Bollheimer and Norma Jackson; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
