Mrs. Dallas Miller Is Burned to Death

Monday morning about 8 o’clock, Mrs. Dallas Miller, age 21 years, was so badly injured from burns, sustained in a wreck, that she died at Lakeside Clinic four and a half hours later.

Mrs. Miller, driving a ’37 Dodge pick-up truck, was traveling on Road 60 about 2 miles north of Glendale when she swerved to avoid hitting a hog in the road. The truck turned over on the left side, crossways of the road, and caught fire. A school bus passing just after the accident, stopped and W. A. Burkett went to the injured woman’s assistance.

All her clothing was burned off, and the entire body scared except the soles of her feet. Blanks were provided from the school bus to wrap her in, and Mr. Burkett and Woodrow Holley brought her to the Lakeside Clinic in Mr. Holley’s car.

Though critically burned, Mrs. Miller walked about 30 feet from the truck after the accident, and later walked from the car to the clinic, where she died shortly after noon.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller lived at the filling station about 2 miles east of town on road No. 90.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Cluster Ssprings Church, Rev. H. P. Childs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Page Funeral Home in charge.
