Mark Purdom, 79 of Whitefield passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home. He was born on May 5, 1937 in Briartown to Virgil and Anna (Grinstead) Purdom. He grew up in Briartown and Haskell and received his education from Haskell. After graduation he began a career as a heavy equipment mechanic and worked for the Coal Mines for more than 25 years and the Gold Mines for 13 years. He married Myrt (Holden) Purdom on May 1, 1966 and they made their home in Whitefield. He will always be remembered as loving to fish, hunt, and watching the Sooners, Thunder, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Mark is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrt Purdom of the home; two sons, Dusty Oldham and wife Michelle of Whitefield, Mark Purdom II of Beaumont, Texas; three daughters, Joy Clarke and husband Bob of Whitefield, Diana Eaton of Tulsa, Cindy Summerlin and husband Tommy of Tulsa; one sister, Bette Hankins of Columbus, Georgia; four sister in-laws, Polly Doss of Whitefield, Lois Purdom of Porum, Donna Brown of Porum, Janell Childers of Moore; one brother in-law, Charles Cameron of Broken Arrow; twelve grandchildren, Kevin Clarke and wife Kelsey, Eric Clarke and wife Elise, Mack Oldham and wife Danielle, Zeblen Oldham and Joyelynn, Rachel Oldham, Zane Oldham, Keith Summerlin, Pam Summerlin, Tia Summerlin, Shaun Summerlin, Ashley Eaton, Daniel Louser and wife Laura of Bixby; six great grandchilden, Gunner, Aiden, Hunter, Lily, Gabe, Yuri; a special fur baby, Snuggles; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Anna Purdom; six brothers, Royal Purdom, Doyal Purdom, Ruben Purdom, Joy Purdom, Bill Purdom, and Junior Purdom; four sisters, Jaunita McDaniel, Shirley Cameron, Louise Herron, Mildred Purdom.

Graveside Services ~ Monday, May 9, 2016 at Coleman Cemetery with Reverend Tommie Parker officiating. Burial immediately followed under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
