Born July 15, 1924, in Waccamaw, NC, Robert was the son of the late Edgar and Lottie Woods Hart. After leaving the U.S. Army at the end of WWII, he attended the University of South Carolina and finished at Clemson University. After graduation, he worked for Clemson University and lived there for ten years until he and his wife decided to move back home to Darlington.
He was employed at Dixie Cup for ten years, and then taught school for another ten years at Spring Elementary School. Mr. Hart will also be remembered for the many years he worked in the summer as manager of Sun-n-Splash pool.
Although he was completely deaf for over thirty years, he never lost his sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed life, his children and his grandchildren. He was married to Llewellyn Fields Hart, and was blessed to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary in June, 2015. Robert was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and working in the yard, especially his garden, "That never got too hot."
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Robby Hart, Jr. of Darlington, Lyn (David) Bush of Asheville, NC, and Lon Hart of Darlington; his four grandchildren, Josh Hart, Anna Hart, Corey Bush and Tanner Bush.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his daughter-in-law, Teressa Welch Hart.
The family will receive friends following the service Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, and other times at 113 Brittain Road, Darlington, SC 29532.
